The Levine Lab is based at the Rotman Research Institute at Baycrest, affiliated with the University of Toronto. Dr. Levine accepts students through the University of Toronto Department of Psychology. He is also involved in undergraduate, graduate, and clinical supervision across various training settings in Toronto.
Levine Lab trainees are exposed to clinical, translational, administrative, fundraising, and science outreach activities in addition to mainstream research activities such as design, data collection, data analysis, and writing.
Dr. Levine's trainees have had outstanding success at securing external funding, including the prestigious Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship (SSHRC) and Alexander Graham Bell Canada Graduate Scholarship - Doctoral (NSERC). His past trainees lead laboratories of their own across Canada (Univeristy of Windsor, York University, Toronto Metropolitan University [2], University of Alberta [2], University of British Colombia [2], McMaster University [2], McGill University [2]) and internationally (University of East Anglia, University of Liverpool, Rutgers, Uppsala University). They have also been successful securing positions in industrial, government, and clinical settings.
Three of the last seven recipients of the CSBBCS Vincent Di Lollo Early-Career Award recognizing contributions to brain, behaviour, and cognitive science in Canada are Levine Lab alumni.
We have supported many post-baccalaureate research assistants who have gone on to hold positions in research, health care, business, and government. Additionally, our lab hosts undergraduate volunteers and thesis students seeking experience in cognitive neuroscience research.
The Toronto Area Memory Group (TAMeG) conference was established in 2015 by Dr. Levine (with Drs. Morgan Barense, Mary Pat McAndrews, and Shayna Rosenbaum) to provide a forum for trainees to present scientific work, network with colleagues, and learn from experts on science-adjacent topics (e.g., science communication, reviewing, work-life balance).
